I'm Hanlie Joubert, a self taught artist that draws inspiration from my childhood years growing up in South Africa. The rawness, the imperfect beauty and wide open spaces of Africa is evident in all my work.
After spending years living and traveling around the world I am now settled in the US with my husband and 2 children. In a small, 100 year old cottage is where I create. Here I am reclaiming slowness, shifting the balance from doing to being. To see beauty in the everyday, to be humble and live with less, with grace and kindness.
I paint with oils and cold wax on cotton paper. Some paintings are printed in limited editions on raw linen. My paintings are calm, unassuming and introverted. A quiet visual language yet not without presence.
"I dream my painting and I paint my dream"
